History and Mystery
This site was initially called Sand Between the Pages, and was dedicated to providing constructive book reviews. I reviewed everything I read, which included a variety of genres. (You can check out these reviews by visiting Other Genres) The goal of the site was to get me back to reading for fun after finishing grad school.
I decided, on the second year anniversary of finishing grad school, the site needed to change. The site will now be known as History and Mystery. I will still provide constructive book reviews, but I will be focusing on non-fiction and historical fiction. I am excited about these changes and I hope you enjoy the reviews!

I am a historian who lives in sunny Florida and who is, still, currently recovering from a 3.5 year stint in graduate school.
I am an avid reader, collector of TV shows, Mexican food junky, museum nerd, and aspiring writer. I when not reading (or working) I can be found flying vintage airplanes, scuba diving, or kayaking to untouched strips of beach.
I started this book review site to provide constructive reviews for other readers and to help keep track of the books I read. Please feel free to message me or recommend books you think I should check out!
Thanks for following my blog; I’m now following yours, too! I think we’re going to find some great books on this journey!
I agree! I am amazed by how quickly you get through your books, but I really enjoy your review style. I hope we stumble across some great ones this year!
I wish they’d bring back Warehouse 13, miss that show! And how dare they cancel Almost Human!! Looking forward to your blog.
Season 5 of Warehouse 13 just started! Unfortunately it is going to be the conclusion of the series, which is sad because I really enjoy it. Same thing with Almost Human; I loved the concept. It was so nice to watch a science fiction show that doesn’t have the future involved in total war or over run by zombies. Its so nice to hear that other people enjoy these shows!
Season 5? That literally made my day! I was mad when I found out about Almost Human, there was nothing else like it out there with Fringe gone. I’m guessing you are a fan of Eureeka?
Yes! The first four seasons are all on Netflix (season 4 is not on instant play yet). I have no idea why they canceled Almost Human. I was pretty upset because it was the perfect show for me: Science Fiction, crime show, and Karl Urban!
I love Eureka! I actually just started re-watching season one last week.
I thought their final season was a sign they were running low on writing talent. But, I loved the final scene. Too cool! Have you tried Continuum?
P.S. I could probably jabber on forever about shows. lol
Oh I agree that their final season was a little rough. I actually quit liking Allison after the trip back to the 1940s, but I still enjoyed the quirky humor.
I have yet to try Continuum but its on the top of my list. Is it good?
And don’t worry 🙂 I can go on about tv shows until the cows come home! I’m a binge watcher.
I always wanted to learn more about the level 5 area and all of those secrets in there. I was a bit sad/relieved after their final season.
Continuum is good, it took me a while to get over the time travel cop idea. But they have some excellent twists and turns. Super glad I heard them working on a 3rd season.
Excellent, we shall become fast friends! One of the few series I have been trying to devote a sick day marathon to is Doctor Who. I watched a few episodes but haven’t gotten into the swing of it yet.
I agree on the sad/relieved feelings for the end of Eureka. I felt the same way; the characters had just changed too much for my taste but I still loved them.
I am definitely checking out Continuum tonight. We are definitely going to be friends 🙂 Especially if you get into Doctor Who. My niece got me hooked on it and I totally suggest starting with the revamped series. I don’t think you miss much not starting from the original episode one and the new series still utilizes most of the original special effects!
Most excellent. I will start advancing the good doctor to the tippy top of my queue. We must correspond on our similarities via email sometime before your about page is consumed, lol.
🙂 true. I can be reached at lkboitott@gmail.com. Let me know what other shows you enjoy!
I tried that email but it bounced. Is something misplaced?
sorry. thank you iPhone for enforcing faulty autocorrect. it’s lkboitnott@gmail.com. sorry

Thank you for the follow, Lindsay. I’m looking forward to reading your blog and getting to know about some of these TV programmes we don’t get here in the UK. Warehouse 13 sounds a great series.
I’m a big Doctor Who fan (in fact most things Sci-fi).
